McCabe Masonry Ltd carried out all the project works which involved Fluming the river bed and electro fishing within the working area. We had to work closely with the IFI officer to ensure all fish life was saved on this project. This work also included the removal of the existing arch barrell and the installation of a new concrete culvert. As the road remained open we had to carry out our works under a single lane system, therefore sheet piling and the use of a trench box was used throughout the excavation to ensure the safety of all road users, employees and personnel.
The concrete box culverts were installed with a 120T crane with a trained BAS our daily works were being carried out under our traffic management system, McCabe Masonry supplied a convoy vehicle to co-ordinate live traffic on the roadway. Rock armour was installed in the river bed 2meters upstream and downstream of the structure, along with the training walls and with clay bank suppourt.During the project McCabe Masonry Ltd. liaised with both land owners, Inland Fisheries Ireland, Parks and Wildlife and Cavan County Council. Not one of our most exciting projects but certainly one of the best in terms of time efficiency and working in a difficult setting.
